Cabal (meaning “exactly“ in Guatemalan slang) is a project that showcases Bony Fly’s musical universe, an EP labeled for the first time in collaboration with BS Radio.

The 5-tracks project highlights Mateo’s very personal music history, and constitutes a sonic journey cruising through various genres and textures. In this EP we may note hints of dub music, reggaeton, acid house and 1990’s dancehall.

A crucial point of this project is the melting pot of cultures that composes the musical and experiential background of Don Mateo: the artist is keen to bring a strong cultural footprint in his artwork, originating from his very own roots as well.

Furthermore, Bony Fly has decided to capture sounds and to record what constitutes his daily life (live recordings from dances, convos with friends, field recordings such as streets of Geneva/Medellín/Guatemala/New York, etc) to subtly add a more personal trait to this EP.

The entire project reflects Bony Fly’s desire to express the multifaceted approach of his work. “I wanted to emphasize the complex and hybrid characteristics of music - in Don Mateo’s words, by conciliating different rhythms, sounds and personal influences.”
